Hi, I got my GS5 terminal week, and I'm loving it, but information technology have one issue that bugging me. This effect don't happen ofttimes (only 3 times since I've got it), when I put my phone to sleep, and wake it back on, the ii soft buttons on the bottom of the screen (back and multi-tasking push button) lit up, but the screen does not, I have to strength to accept out the battery and put information technology back in, turn the phone back on and so it would work. Any1 else having this trouble besides?
I did chosen the store i got it from, only they don't have any more than s5 in stock , and Samsung won't supersede mine (what kind of client service is this?), the shop I got it from said they have to come across the issue with their own optics to be able to exchange me a new 1, IF there volition be any new S5 coming in for the next week or then.
And so please I really need help on this issue, this is my first Samsung galaxy device, hell, this is my first Android device.
    Thanks!

TL;DR: my screen won't lit up upon waking the phone merely the 2 buttons on the bottom of the screen lit upwards normally.

I got information technology from WirelessWave (Sasktel'due south Authorized Dealer), and no it hasnt been dropped earlier, its in perfect condition cuz information technology have a case and a screen protector installed as before long as information technology came out of the original box. I'm not sure if this is hardware related issue or software, cuz i did some searching around and seems like the s4 also have it, but there are too suggestions that it could be due to KitKat 4.4.2 software event as well, so if any1 tin shed some low-cal on this, it would be peachy!

Aye, since you have already pulled the battery the next step is to effort a mill reset...settings/backup and reset/Factory information reset
Sometimes the firmware can become corrupted during install and this may resolve the upshot. If you proceed to have bug then a trip to your store is needed.

    Thanks

Same hither. I don't have to pull out the bombardment since another push of the wake push will wake the screen just still it's annoying... And sometimes when my phone is ringing, I take information technology out of my bag and want to reply it but the screen is black and ringing... Also it's very slow to low-cal up after I'1000 done with a phone call and remove it from my ears. So I don't go to hang up phone calls, the other one is always faster! Aaaaaaa! But other than that I dearest it B-)

I as well occasionally get this event when striking the button to turn on the screen and information technology lags for upwards to 30 seconds at times before the screen actually comes on. Haven't figured out root cause yet if it'due south an app I'm running or a setting I have, just definitely a problem for many people likewise based on other forum threads.

I would assume this is NOT the concrete hardware issue, simply the software, I heard somewhere that Samsung version of KitKat 4.4.2 is quite buggy and glitchy.
@Cody However and Marina Bumber: Mine does the exact same thing as described by Marina, its kinda annoying sometimes when u need to brand certain u did hang up before putting the phone into pocket or abroad, especially when some of my friends and my parents never first to hang up, lol.
Either way I'm still loving this phone, and hope this upshot tin be resolve ASAP!

Mine has been doing this aforementioned verbal matter since I got it. Screen goes black and I can't wake it up. The bottom buttons will lite upwards but screen will non come up on no matter what I exercise. So I constantly have to pull the battery. Information technology happens several times a day. I'm starting to read that this is becoming common happening to many other people.

Mine has been doing this about every 24 hours. I factory reset twice. I had a agglomeration of Tasker profiles prepare and I had hoped that that was the problem, but information technology happened again this morning without Tasker running. I have a Verizon S5. I'm curious to hear if this is happening on all variants of the telephone. I've been running with the fingerprint lock on and I'g going to see if using no lock makes any difference.

This has happened to me twice. First instance was when I locked my phone via the power button and it wouldn't wake up (3 - 5 minutes with no lights at the lesser).
I did the difficult reset and it went into recovery manner so I was able to restart. Thinking that it was a defective phone I was able to commutation it for another at the T-Mobile store.

2d example was today when my NEW phone did the aforementioned thing. Locked via power button and information technology wouldn't wake up (wasn't paying attention to the lights). This time during the hard reset information technology merely restarted and things so far have been ok. I chosen Samsung technical back up and they recommended that I exchange the phone.

My husband has the Galaxy s5 as well and his phone has been fine. The only thing we can retrieve of is he did a factory reset earlier using it. We're going to exchange my telephone Once again only this time do a factory reset before using information technology. Crossing my fingers... but this is getting frusturating.

Aye mine has done the same thing a handful of times too. I'm on Telstra in Aus. Most recently did it yesterday after my Facebook app froze and wouldn't let me use the screen. Turned screen off with the power push button to encounter if I could get information technology working but then got the black screen and soft key lights for between 5-ten min. Gave upward and took the bombardment out (previously information technology's simply lasted a few min and and then sorted itself out)

Mine is doing the aforementioned affair. Usually locks when playing an app intensive memory hog blazon game like Simpson's Tapped Out. But also if I'm listening to Pandora. Subsequently a few screen timeouts, I'll go to unlock (finger impress scan) and nothing will happen except the two bottom lights light upwardly. I still hear music and tin change book. I hold the power button or only click it with no results. Wait forever with no results. I think it might exist a memory upshot since I take less than 1GB gratis on the phone and apps tell me I'm depression. Crazy how these phones need so much. Stupid bloatware... mumble grumble....

Simply you don't need to pull the bombardment every fourth dimension. That sucks, especially when you have a instance on it. Just concord the Volume + Power + Home for about 2-5 seconds. A menu will come up to become into normal, something, or prophylactic mode (I didn't think to write it down). Anyway, but hitting the Home button to select the meridian item which is boot unremarkably. Sucks that this happens, just don't pull the battery unless you have to or are told by Samsung/Verizon or if you don't take a example and don't intendance. Hope this helps.

And then, it happened to me again today, and I called Verizon Tech Support. The guy walked me through a few things to try, similar booting into Safe Mode, wiping the Cache division and so on. He told me to just play it by ear, and if information technology happens again, attempt to remember what I was doing last. It could be that an app that I have installed is causing the trouble. If cipher else, I should attempt a manufactory reset, simply he seemed pretty convinced that it's a software issue.

That actually got me thinking…I had a VERY similar issue with my last phone (LG Spectrum 2), but I had assumed that it was just a crappy telephone. Merely now that the aforementioned affair is happening again on my S5, I'm trying to recall of things that I've been doing with both devices that could cause information technology. The but matter I can think of is the fact that on both devices, I've been disabling a lot of the bloatware apps that I never use. In fact, I remember that for a few of them, it gave me a warning that disabling it could cause other apps to malfunction, or something like that. And then, just out of curiosity, everyone else with this problem been disabling organization apps? If so, I'd like to know which ones are unsafe to disable.

T-Mobile tech back up idea it was my SD carte du jour. Did a mill reset, took the carte du jour out and things seem to be working fine for now.

When this happened to me the second time it was inside 24 hours of exchanging my first telephone. I hadn't gotten around to fully customizing.
